Case Study: Possessed by Reiki

Updated: Jun 16

Back in October of 2023, the church was contacted about a case of possible demonic possession in northern NJ. On the first night of investigation Rev Dan and the team psychologist arrived at the location to find a 40yr old female sitting at the dining room table. We weren't there 5 minutes before the demon manifested. When it manifested it told us to get out and not to return. Rev Dan looked at Jane Doe's husband and asked if that has ever happened before. John Doe confirmed that that had never happened before. The manifestation happened while we were setting up so unfortunately we didn't catch this one on camera or recording. We had our medium remote view the case and she stated that the demon wasn't going to stay in the client long that it was looking for a new host.

Our team psychologist conducted the interview while Rev Dan did a baseline of the house. There was nothing unusual except for a quick spike by the coffee pot. That was the only time thee was an emf spike throughout the duration of the case. During the course of the conversation while going through the questionnaire, there were 3 more manifestations. Rev Dan attempted to get some information from the demon, but all it would say is that it wasn't leaving and that Rev Dan was powerless over it. Jane Doe stated that she sometimes she can remember the incident and sometimes she can't. Unfortunately on this night she didn't remember anything. Once we finished for the night we set a date for the investigation to be performed.

On the night of the investigation, we sat down with Jane Doe to answer some questions about her medical history and her psych report. On this night, Jane Doe told us that she didn't like the St Benedicts medal pin on Rev Dan's coat. At this point Rev Dan pulled out the St Benedict's Medal and she took it in her hand, held it for a minute and then threw across the room at Rev Dan. Jane Doe also had a negative reaction to drinking the Holy Water that we snuck into her cup without her knowing it. At the point the demon manifested for the 2nd time of the night. Jane Doe was given prayers to recite on a regular basis and while she was reading them again the demon manifested. At this point Rev Dan began reading the Minor Rite of Exorcism prayers. Once he began the rite the demon fought against it. Rev Dan was successful in casting out at least one demon.

On the 3rd and final visit, we sat down and began talking about the prior sessions events. Rev Dan was able to bring the demon out and perform the minor rite on it again. This time Rev Dan was able to torment it to the point where it revealed its name. It revealed that it was Lucifer. Rev Dan began asking Lucy (aka lucifer, he hates being ridiculed). Lucifer still was answering the questions in a very vague way. Rev Dan continued with the exorcism until Lucy was casted out. Once he was gone, there were no more manifestations for the night. On a follow up visit it was revealed that Jane Doe was freed from the possession.

So how did Jane Doe become possessed? What was the open doorway where Lucifer walked in?

Well thats an easy question to answer. Reiki. Jane Doe has medical problems and was prescribed Reiki as a treatment. Unknowingly she participated in a few sessions before she started feeling the oppression. Reiki is the exchange of energies. Its a Japanese form of healing. There is no evidence that shows reiki as an effective form of treatment for any medical condition and should not replace conventional medical treatment. There are studies showing the positive effects had methodological flaws. There is no real central authority that govern reiki. You can become a reiki master online for $100 with minimal training. Many Reiki masters become demonically oppressed or possessed and don't even know it until its to late.

So before you go for your next Reiki Session make sure you know who is doing it to you because God will not be the one performing it on you no matter what the reiki master says. Reiki is not biblical. In 2009 the USCCB declared the practice of Reiki was based on superstition, being neither considered faith healing nor science based medicine. They also stated that ot is incompatible with Christian spirituality because it involves belief in human power over healing rather than prayer to God. In Dec 2014 the USCCB's committee on divine worship on exorcism and its uses in the church, reiki is listed as a practice "that may have negatively impacted the current state of the afflicted person(s).
